Spider-Man 2 is a United States superhero film directed by Sam Raimi and written by Alfred Gough, Miles Millar, and Michael Chabon. Based on the Marvel Comics fictional character, Spider-Man. The film stars Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker. Spider-Man 2 also stars Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson, and James Franco as Harry Osborn.
When Spider-Man 2 swung into the cinema, Roger Ebert called it the best modern superhero film since Superman. Indeed, many superhero films have been released since 2004, but in fact Ebert’s claims still persist.
Directed by Sam Raimi, Spider-Man 2 is not only the best superhero film ever made, but is one of the greatest sequels of all time, right with The Empire Strikes Back and The Godfather Part II.
But unlike those gloomy films, Spider-Man 2 keeps the light tone of the first film while taking emotional stakes to a new level.
The film has several extraordinary sets, such as scenes for an epic battle on the train between Spidey and Doc Ock. In this film, Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) struggles to fight a crazy scientist while doing his best to get a girlfriend and keep his job.
In short, Spider-Man 2 is more than just a film hero against evil people. As Michael Curley said at PopMatters, “In Spider-Man 2, the audience not only supports Peter to stop the villain or save the world, but they also want him to be happy, find balance, and get a job.”
Spider-Man 2 is the first superhero film to give us a hero that is really needed, and helped set the template for the upcoming Marvel movie.
This time Peter Parker is having personality problems after 2 years acting as a spider-man. This time, he had just been fired from his job as a pizza deliveryman, and had struggled to finish his studies at Columbia University while facing a rift with Mary Jane
